Machine Sewing - 7 week course Thursdays 4 - 6:15pm

This beginners sewing class is a great introduction into this life skill whilst having a lot of creative fun along the way. Learn to sew in a small group and relaxed environment. This course is suitable for absolute beginners or as a refresher course for those who haven’t sewed in a while. You can bring along your own machine or use one of ours. Over the term we will be making a selection of things from cushions to bags. 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN 

• How to cut and pin fabric using a simple pattern

• How to thread the machine and wind a bobbin 

• How to sew straight lines and zig zag

• How to sew straight seams and how to finish them off

• Basic seam construction and neatening techniques as well as pressing

• How to do a lining

• How to attach straps 

WHAT YOU NEED TO PURCHASE (this can all be purchased from the teacher in the first class)

• Fabric scissors
